Ikot Ekpene PDP is intact – Etido Inyang

12 Mar

…Defection was stage-managed

The Ikot Ekpene chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, remains intact, unshaken, and ready for election at any time, says Engr. Etido Inyang.

Making further clarifications, the former special duties commissioner slammed the defection that reportedly took place in Ikot Ekpene Local Government last Saturday, describing it as nothing but a ruse and staged-managed event.

‘The crowd that was seen and falsely reported as defectors were a mix of already existing members of the All Progressive Congress in Ikot Ekpene, indigenes who were already within the location of the event engaging in their personal business and members of APC from other local government areas who were obviously mobilized to hype it and create a false impression. And of course, our (PDP) members were also there to monitor their lies’, Inyang clarified.

Etido InyangHe continued: ‘The faces in the pictures being circulated by hawkers of falsehood has been scrutinized. Ninety nine percent of what was reported by the APC propaganda machine is absolutely false.’

Inyang stated that there is no cause for alarm as the Ikot Ekpene will queue enmasse behind the PDP and support Governor Udom Emmanuel’s second term in 2019.

An APC online media arm in Akwa Ibom State bandied the figures of those who defected at ‘over 500’.

But independent investigations by this reporter reveal the figure as mischievous and misleading. According to an HND 1 student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic who was at the event and simply gave his name as Udofia, ‘the sum total of those who reportedly defected was no where near five hundred. The ‘over 500’ number being circulated is exaggeratory. I was there to the end. I am an indigene of Ikot Ekpene and from ward 10. The number couldn’t have been more than forty. Most of the decampees were already members of the APC and they merely came out to publicly announce their membership.

‘Such colouration was not unexpected though, considering the addiction for sensationalism and love for outright falsehood of those involved,’ said Uke.

Meanwhile, Engr. Inyang, dismissing the defection as an isolated case in the area, said the local government has largely remained a one-party affair for many years now as a result of collective understanding by the people. That established pattern, according to him, will be upheld beyond 2019.

According to him, the PDP in Ikot Ekpene believe that every party member is important and so accord them a sense of relevance. ‘We are building a political family and we aim for one hundred percent PDP family. We will continue to work towards achieving this goal.
‘PDP still holds a better offer in the days ahead. The party is still the best political vehicle for Akwa Ibom people in the journey to greatness. It is also the most credible and sensitive to the challenges of statehood and nation building that confront us.

‘We have to keep faith and trust the party and the government of Deacon Udom Emmanuel. The governor has brought commitment and passion to governance and we have to support his genuine intentions’.

Earlier, last Thursday, in an enlarged stakeholders meeting chaired by Sen. Emmanuel Ibokette, an appraisal was undertaken and resolutions arrived at. One of such resolutions was to strengthen the capacity of PDP in the area and expand the support base of Governor Emmanuel as 2019 draws near. A vote of confidence was also passed on the governor for the commitment and passion he has brought to governance.

Those who spoke at the enlarged stakeholders meeting were Sen. Ibokette, Engr. Sam Inyang, Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere, Dr. Nse Essien (Commissioner for Science and Technology), Engr. Etido Inyang, Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong, David Umana (Transition Chairman), Elijah Udofa, David Okon (PDP chapter chairman), Obonganwan Abigail Akpan (PDP Chapter Women Leader) Obonganwan Lucy, Otuekong Akpan, and Kufre Inima who represented the youths.

Udom Emmanuel: A Man We Can Trust

26 May

A MAN WE CAN TRUST.png

Over the past months, Nigeria has suffered major blows of the dwindling oil prices and even a child in the womb has felt the effect of how things are going on today in Nigeria. The scourging effect of the oil revenue decline has seen many states running to the Federal Government for bailouts as they are finding it very hard to embark on certain projects, pay salaries and bring to reality their campaign promises.

In Akwa Ibom, our case is different! Fortunately for us, we have a Governor whose credibility and integrity has been tested and trusted. He is an astute manager, a caring father and an exceptional leader who feels the pulse of the common man. This man has given up every luxury just to make sure Akwa Ibom as a state rises to its faith of greatness. That man is His Excellency Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.

For many, occupying a sensitive position as the governor of a state is an opportunity to fan the flames of ethnic and tribal sentiments, dabble into politics not concerned with issues, plunder resources and grab all they can while it lasts. Governor Udom Emmanuel, considering his leadership style, considers his position an opportunity to serve and save Akwa Ibom State.

One would not expect anything less from a man who has occupied various top managerial positions in the Nigeria, African and the world banking industries. Udom Emmanuel was called by God to SERVE Akwa Ibom with his heart and might, especially in a time like this! He was qualified by God to SAVE our economy from the adverse effects of dwindling oil prices. He was chosen by God to save Akwa Ibom from ‘divisive tendencies that have for centuries defined us’.

In a speech tagged “COME, LET’S BUILD TOGETHER” made at the 2015 Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria, AKISAN Convention in Philadelphia, USA, Governor Udom Emmanuel noted that “For so long, we have allowed the negative impulses of parochialism, of ethnic bigotry, to draw lines of divisions where a clear line of togetherness should have been written in bold letters. For so long, we have allowed mutual distrust shape our thoughts and the layers of relationship among our brothers and sisters. The time has come for us all to collapse and check our little fears and distrusts for one another and unfurl an umbrella of love, of unity and of good neighborliness.”

This truly was the case in Akwa Ibom State! Today, the narrative has changed! Akwaibomites are rising to the faith of greatness! Akwaibomites are becoming responsible citizens! We are towing the path of greatness in efficient management of resources. We are using our innate abilities positively for service to God and growth of humanity. In the near future, we will live to be thankful to God for bringing this astute manager and charismatic leader our way!

No wonder the Executive Chairman of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Dr. Elijah Akpan, describes the governor as “sympathetic, empathetic, steady, kind, assertive, integrous, proficient, efficient, competent, experienced, intelligent, mature, humble, attentive, generous, God-fearing, educated, honest, trustworthy, loyal, not greedy, and modernized.”

It is worthy of note that Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Five Point Agenda of Wealth Creation, Economic and Political Inclusion, Poverty Alleviation, Infrastructural Consolidation/Expansion, and Job Creation is already coming to fruition in within his first year in office.

With the introduction of Akwa Ibom Enterprise and Employment Scheme (AKEES), training of Akwa Ibom youths in Agriculture, Information and Communication Technology, Power and other vocational disciplines, wealth and jobs have been created for unemployed youths in Akwa Ibom.

Vast opportunities are opening up for Akwa Ibom business as credibility and integrity is now the order of the day. Just to mention, as part of his Poverty Alleviation agenda, pensions and salaries are now paid on time!

His Economic and Political Inclusion agenda has been witnessed both in the appointment of non-party members into key positions and at the just-concluded PDP congress where credible standards set by the Governor were strictly followed resulting in peaceful conduct of PDP congresses in the state.

Having laid the foundation for the industrial development of our State through the provision of an enabling environment, investors are trouping into the state because of Udom Emmanuel’s Infrastructural Consolidation/Expansion agenda which is evidenced in this administration’s committed to build a vibrant economic model in Akwa Ibom State through massive Industrialization, Mechanized Agricultural Expansion, Energy Development, Oil and Gas Exploration, Human Capacity Development, Entertainment, Service Industries, Innovative Healthcare Delivery Systems and various Foreign Direct Investment initiatives.

In just 365 days in office, Akwa Ibom State has come together in a critical mass to build a virile, prosperous state where opportunities abound, where people are ‘aspirational’, where the ‘can-do’ spirit brims in our veins and blood, and where we hold our hands aloft, strong, virile and ready to help the next person cross the hurdle or jump the hoops to the corner of fulfillment, as opposed to applying zero-sum game approach.

This is the dream of Governor Udom Emmanuel. This is the Akwa Ibom dream! For a few that are yet to wake up to the reality that God gives power, calls and qualifies, it is pertinent to note that we are building a sustainable environment where no philosophical differences in politics, slander or blackmail can thrive.

We are building an economy where our businesses can outlive our generations; we are building a society where unity and peaceful coexistence is the watchword and finally, a society where commending our brothers or sisters for a good job done is no longer seen as a sign of weakness.

We collectively made the choice on April 11, 2015 and the Supreme Court strongly affirmed that truly, Udom Emmanuel is a man we can trust!

Akwa Ibom Dakkada!

‘Ukanna Un Stop’ is a favorite Both for the DJ and for the Pastor

11 May

Mimi’bram is here to raise the roof-top on African hiphop gospel music. She raps with vigour, sings with flair, performs with passion, she’s dramatic and in her debut single, you can tell she means business. Listening to ‘Ukanna Un Stop’, you can immediately gather that this artist is bold, furious and graceful.

The Afro-pop track will drop on Tuesday May 17 and marks her unveiling on a busy Nigerian music landscape. But it already holds much promise, thanks to years of passionate live performance and thanks to unpredictable music production by the maestro King Baseda.

Music lovers can look forward to sure fire grooving; while the gospel is not concealed as would have been feared for such heavily rhythmic piece. There is everything in this one: the music is contemporary; the lyrics are Rhema. Neither DJ nor Pastor will be disappointed by this track.

“Ukanna Un Stop” is Ibibio for ‘You cannot stop me’. For a debutant, that must be a stern announcement. And she’s chosen to make the announcement with music that’s challenging industry standards.

My favorite experience with the song is where she does the unprecedented; she raps scriptures in Annang. That’s testament to her bravado – and she rocks it real good.

According to her management, the Akwa Ibom born artist began expressing passion for music at a very tender age, joining her local church Choir at God’s Heritage Global mission when other choristers would tower above her. A 400 level student of Public Health at the University of Calabar, she considers music a perfect way to share the light of Scriptures with her world, targeting her music at the edification of the body of Christ.

“Ukanna Un Stop was born out of a revelation I caught in a Holy Ghost powered church service”, she says of her debut single. It will keep you on your toes and her management believes it will do more than that.

“You need to listen to this song every time you’re being confronted by obstacles and the spirit of the song will break the barriers for you”.

That’s more than a combination of lyrics and rhythm; there certainly is Spirit in it. Keep a date and Check it out as it drops on Tuesday May 17.

YAHOO! AFRICA’S RICHEST MAN ALIKO DANGOTE IN THE NEWS AGAIN…!

17 Apr
Yes! He is Africa’s richest man! Aliko Dangote is a household name! This time, he plans to invest up to $8 billion to build an oil refinery here in Nigeria with a capacity of around 400,000 barrels a day by late 2016, almost doubling Nigeria‘s refining capacity.
Nigeria currently produces 445,000 barrels per day among four refineries, but operates well below that owing to decades of mismanagement and corruption in the system and even at that, Nigeria still relies on subsidized imports for 80 percent of its fuel needs!
Perharps with Aliko’s intervention, there will be a cut into profits made by European refiners and oil traders who would lose part of that lucrative market.
In Dangote’s words “In five years, when our population is over 200 million, we won’t have the infrastructure to receive the amount of fuel we use. It has to be done…
Past efforts to build refineries have often been delayed or cancelled, but analysts have said Dangote should be able to build a profitable Nigerian refinery, owing to his past successes in industry and his strong government connections.

We think this would be a welcome idea! What do you think?

17 Apr

A Washington state man got put on Facebook blast recently when the social networking site recommended that the two women become “friends.” via CBS News. A Washington state corrections officer has been charged with bigamy after Facebook discovered two women were connected to him and suggested they might want to “friend.”

Prosecutors in Pierce County say Alan L. O’Neill married a woman in 2001, moved out in 2009, changed his name and remarried without divorcing wife No. 1.
Wife No. 1 found out about Wife No. 2 when Facebook detected their connection to O’Neill and suggested the friendship connection.
